How To Download Any “Google Video” in AVI Format!

So you’re probably thoroughly annoyed with Google’s “Video Player,” like I am. My good friend Aaron gave me this hack that enables you to download any video you find on Google Video in AVI format, instead of Google’s stupid GVP format. With Google’s GVP format, you can’t convert the file to DVD or VCD, nor can you watch the video in any player EXCEPT the Google Video player. With this hack, you’ll be able to have the freedom to do anything you could normally do with a video file, without the restrictions of Google’s player.

Here’s the hack, in his words:

Ever wanted to save videos you found on Google Video to your computer but found it impossible without downloading their stupid Google Video Player? Here’s how and its wicked easy.

1. Find a video on Google you want and click the “Download” button and then “Manually Download” and save it to your computer. **DON’T DOWNLOAD THE GOOGLE VIDEO PLAYER!!!** If you already have the Google video player installed on your computer uninstall it.

2.Open the file you just saved to your computer and you will be prompted to choose a program to open the file with. Choose word pad or note pad (or whatever text editing program you want)to open it with.

3.Copy the URL (should be the third line down) and then paste it into your internet navigation bar.4.Once you enter it into your navigation bar you can then save the video to your computer as an avi file on your computer instead of gay Google video.

Now, in selecting the URL, it will start with the second instance of http://, and you will select all the way up to, and including, the last character before “docid.”

Have fun!!

You probably don’t need to uninstall Google Video Player but just open the .gvp file with Notepad. Hold the shift key then right click on the file so you can choose Open With and select the Notepad for opening it.
