A Reality Check (?)

I don’t plan on getting into a huge thesis about this topic but I feel that it at least needs some addressing. This paper also has a bit of humor to it, so don’t assume that it’s totally serious.

Ok, now I’m not a big TV person, but I’ve noticed something that makes shows not seem too realistic. It involves everyday conversations. Have you ever noticed that when you see dialogue between two or more characters that you never hear anyone say “what?” or “huh?” Is it some type of CIA plot to make people think they should have perfect hearing? Just once during a conversation I’d like to hear someone say something and have the other person be like, “What’s that?” Then they’d have to say it again. That would definitely add an element of reality to it. I mean, think about it. How many times a day do you say, or hear someone say something to the effect that they didn’t hear or understand you?

I strongly advise producers and script writers to consider adding this element of error to the part of their characters. It would definitely add to the quality of the show, in my opinion.
